This was my first time writing a blog. I was with another blog company.
My name is Annette Marie Stephenson. I am full time writer and self published author. I would like to introduce myself and tell you a little about what makes me love writing so much. I was born in Northern California and lived in Oregon for 32 years. I was in Oregon and moved back to California in 2013. I have been a writer most of my life. I started out with short stories and creating characters from collages and storyboards I would make from magazines. That started at the age of 10. I then put together my own poetry book and collected bridal magazines, cutting out pictures creating a story. I had a big imagination when I was a kid. I wanted to work for the newspaper and have my own column or get a publishing company to take me on and see what I created. But no one wanted to give me a chance. I wrote my first novel, Divided Mountain, when we were losing our home due to the economy in 2007. It was just a hobby at the time and I never wanted to publish it since I was turned down many times. After letting a few friends read the manuscript, I thought about self publishing. Success! I was now able to publish it and see where it would take me. The story is based on me and my husband's journey together when we met. Many fans said it was touching and beautiful. I was amazed by the comments! From there, in less than 2 years, I have written 8 books and counting. I'm not a big suspense girl. I don't like a story that gets your anxiety going. More of the, "edge of your seat" kind of girl. I never thought I would create characters that would move and touch someone, something they could relate to. I never could understand why books with a strong adult situation or intense violence appealed to the public. My books are clean romances without all the sappiness. The flow of the characters make the story come alive. There are so many scenarios I could write about and when I put pen to paper, I start the creating process. I write out what feels right and then when I'm ready, it goes onto my computer. Sometimes I get on a roll and write for hours. I read it many times and get into the editing part of it all. I do my own book covers too. It's all me. I just love to write. Like a good chef who enjoys seeing his patrons love his cooking, I love to see my fans enjoy something that feels good to read. You get to see a little bit of my personality in there too. I also get into character and act out the scenes to see how they feel. I love characters that have some hope and can recover from a saddened experience. I want the good person to always win. I am also female empowered and love to put women in a beautiful light when it comes to getting back on their feet in any situation. You will get lost and maybe cry seeing what the character is going through. But don't be dismayed, she is powerful enough to stand on her own or gain support from those she loves. Each page will give you that "hand on your heart" moment.
It was my dream to display my books on my own website and get on Amazon. Here I am, doing both and it's wonderful. I think the best part of being published is knowing my hard work will pay off in a big way. I want people to get to know the real me. I have done so many jobs in my life and worked with my husband on many projects. It's always good to have a loyal partner by your side. Aside from being an author, I've worked with contractors cleaning newly remodeled homes. I never want to stop learning how to succeed and go far with my writing. When I was young, I've always wanted to publish a poetry book of just my words and feelings. The Many Colors of Poetry was created and published. I saved all the letters my husband and I wrote to each other as well as the silly things we said to each other. My children and grandchildren also contributed to the project. I love this book because it shows a side of me that is human and emotional. I've always loved reading other people poems or what they feel at that moment. I'm glad I got the chance to put it out for everyone to enjoy. I know anyone who loves emotion and surprises will love my books. Find me on Instagram and Facebook, Audible Books, and Amazon.
I am happily married to my husband for over 43years with 3 kids and 7 grandchildren.
