Hello Southern California! Good day everyone.

Why is it so hard for authors to sleep when they are writing a new book? I have thoughts going through my mind and I've written about 83 pages of my new book. I picked out the cover and I know how it ends. I do love that about writing a book. There is something about taking notes and looking at the draft that gets me excited about how it's coming together.  I write music too and the same thing happens, I'm awake thinking of a melody. I've read other blogs from authors and they have their way of writing notes for their books. There's recordings, pen to paper, or they just write for hours. The most hours I've written was over 2 hours! By then I was mentally tired. It takes a lot of out me to write. I can usually get a book finished in 4-5 months. I work from home so I have time to get it edited and comb through the stuff I don't want. Today is piano practice and editing the first 4 chapters.

The Last Memory was an idea I had when I was in my 30's. I thought about the fields and farms in California and Oregon. Miles and miles of wheat fields and animals grazing together. When visiting Julian, California, I loved how beautiful it was to see the countryside and farm lands. Then I would think about the city in San Diego. What a huge difference. What if a big city reporter lost everything she worked for? All she could think about was getting justice for a killed colleague who died covering a story. She never thought she would be in danger. How can a woman who once had it all now find herself having lost everything she had worked so hard to achieve? Losing her memory was the least of her problems. This is the first time I have written intrigue and suspense. It's a bit of a crime thriller with a romantic theme. The beauty of this story is heartbreaking and beautiful, yet frightening for the main character. This was a success for me and I want to explore different ways to create and suspense is one of those genres. I think everyone will love this story!

I usually don't like Mondays. That's the day I have to plan my week, work, and do the daily like cleaning and doing laundry. But Mondays are a way to get things done with my writing. I spend the day listening to my book on my computer to find mistakes. Oh yes, there's the fear of typos and mistakes when my book goes out to get published. I am a self publisher so everything has to be just right and today may be the day I find errors. I like to find them early in the process.

My new book, The Glass Vase, is about how a family copes with losing a loved on at the 9/11 attacks. Part of this story takes place in France where the main character explores the beauty of Normandy and Paris and makes discoveries about her deceased sister. This book is available on Amazon and Kindle Books and on Audible Books.

Please tell me what you love about reading or any comments you have. I would love to build my fan base and answer any of your questions. Being in this business is not easy. Without an agent, it's hard to get exposure on my own on a limited budget. Oh, I love doing it. I would love to find those out there who love to read my books. If you have had a chance to read them, let me know what you think. I get 5 star ratings on my books and some of the comments are wonderful! Thank you for your kind comments! Annette
