Everyday I check Google and my rankings on Amazon and I tried so hard to market myself. But it just wasn't working. It wasn't that I was a horrible writer. No one knows I'm out there. Now the time has come for all of you to get to know me better and read my books. It has been my dream to be a famous writer and make my readers smile and develop a large fanbase. The book business is a slow process and it's all about what readers are looking for. I know my rankings are high and I only have about 12-5 star rating on my Amazon page but soon you will see things getting better. What I have to offer is huge. My stories are heartfelt and my project manager said my covers are beautiful and my website is well done. In the future, you will see my books in Target and Walmart. You will see my ratings go up and I will be well know in the communities for being a great writer. Divided Mountain is being featured as a start for all of you to see. This story was inspired by my relationship with my husband. I moved from California to Oregon in 1981 Springtime. I was a lonely, sad teenager who dealt with abuse and feeling like my life was going nowhere. Kate, the character in my book, reminds her of me and her situation. The last thing I wanted to do was fall in love and when I met my husband, he was an artist. He showed me some landscaping drawings and pencil and ink art. I never met a teenager who is a professional artist so this impressed me. We became friends and each moment we spent together, was special. He told me he loved me at the beach and 7 months later, we were married. I would never recommend anyone getting married that quick. The circumstance was right and we have 3 children and 7 grandchildren and over 42 years together. I am not your typical grandmother. I am fun, energetic, and full of life. I am fit, healthy, and I love spending time with my family. Divided Mountain is a very beautiful story about starting over and finding what make you truly happy. You will find some intense drama and what it takes to mend fences with those you lost along the way. Please, check out my book. You will not be disappointed. It was written to deliver what young love is like and how 2 people found each other.Â
I am so happy to share my life with you. When I got started writing, I was in a horrible situation. Writing was the only way to get out the pain. I was in the 4th grade and journaling was also a part of what I needed to get by. Some people ask me how do you write 10 books in 2 years? When I sit at my desk, I open up my imagination. Where do i want to go? Who do I want to be? What fantasy do I want to live out? I act out a story. I cry, I feel the pain, I feel the joy, I write I rite letter like lyrics to a song. I put so much emotion in a story and the characters. If anyone wants to be a writer, just let out what you have been through. Put out every emotion and deep seated thought you have about what you've been through. Take every bit of what you want to say about your character in stride. Be your own audience. Be an actor and let your space be where the show takes place. Think about your favorite movies and what you like about them. Think about an argument you had with someone, or the first time you fell in love. Where did you go, how did you spend your summer? There is so much to explore. Put together a website, Choose book covers on iStock photos and be your own designer. Learn from other authors and find a good marketer and a budget. They will work with what you have even if you are just starting out.
I am the kind of person who loves to give support. Being a child abuse survivor, I became the opposite of what someone wanted me to be. I left behind the anger and pain to be a shining light for those who love to cry when they read a good book. I picture someone putting the book to their chest and looking up with tears and saying how this relates to their life. The uplifting words and guidance are the penned words I use to move you through the journey of daylight. Someday, you are going to see me in lights, as I like to say. You will see me become a famous writer who cares about her fans and will write stories for all of them. I will sign your books. You will come to my book fairs and tours. I can put out a book in about 3-4 months so I will always have something new for you.Â
I want to take this time to mention a book that doesn't get much recognition. The Many Colors of Poetry. This book is autobiographical. This tells the real story about my life with my husband and family. Saved notes and letters from when I was a sad teenager looking for love. I was writing short stories at the time I wrote those letters but felt sorry for myself. That was not who I was and I no longer fell like that but it hindered me from pursuing publishers. I've always wanted to put together a poetry book about me. It's a personal story and these letters are original and have been preserved to someday write this book. There is a little back story about me too at the end. I would love to answer any questions people have about me and why I write. Where does my inspiration come from? Feel free to ask away! This poetry book is not like your typical poetry. It is my way for you to get to know the real me and what I went through to get to where I am today. Check it out.
Other books that get no love are The Shoe Box and The Landscaper's Wife. I wrote these in the early stages of me learning to be a writer. They say everyone has an occasional flop but I love these books. Some have said they are too sappy or there was no excitement or anticipation. That may be true but I loved writing some of my stories where there is no intensity. Sometimes it's nice to tone it down for a change. The Shoe Box is about how to move on from loss. How to find love when you were afraid to explore it. The twist in this story had me crying when I wrote it. I won't give it away but it is emotional.
The Landscaper's Wife is part 2 of Divided Mountain. It has more drama than romance. How does a family come together after going through so much? Kate went through her share of stress and anxiety and with the help of her husband, he came out of it victorious. This is just a continued story and I think that scares some people. What if it's not good or sequels are usually not interesting. This book has tearful emotion and how a family finally comes together after a tragic loss. Read a sample on Amazon.
My books are also available on Audible Books. Penny Rose just came on board. You will enjoy these as well if you want to hear them read to you.
Now, just because some of these books are not popular doesn't mean they are not good. It's all about trying something new. Some of you have never heard of me before. You have heard of Nicholas Sparks but his popularity came in fast when they made his books into movies. Message in a Bottle was the first novel I ever read and the movie is still my favorite. Some books are wordy, overdoing the dialogue and the conversation lasts the whole chapter. I am not that kind of writer. My books are like screenplays. I love to mix it up and get you to fall in love with the characters. I want you to dislike the villain and cheer on the protagonist. I don't want to jumble the story with F words and sexual inuendoes or extreme violence or something shocking. Why does that make the story better? Writing like that is not me. I have a way of telling a story like no other. Sometimes I feel like that school kid who wasn't popular in school because she wasn't like those other kids. Can some of you understand what that feels like? They just never knew what you were about so you got judged. You can express yourself anyway you want to. I respect that but for me, I just don't like to come off crass. I want to feel good when I read something. I'm not a fan of fantasy or paranormal books. These are just not my kind of stories. I became a romance novelist for a reason. Even as a skinny 4th grader, I loved the thought of being in love. I never received love as a child so I just wanted to write what that is like. I love nature, trees, the color blue, sunsets, the beach, the mountains, and cabins, cozy fires, and being loved. These are the things I love to write about.Â
I have a new book coming out very soon. The Gril in the Closet is an intense look at child abuse. This book tells the story of a girl who was a victim of physical abuse by a parent suffering from alcoholism. She has a dream and during those tumultuous times, she tried to stay positive but needed help. This story has emotional, intense writing that shows what is in the heart of a child who is abused and what they want out of life. This story is NOT about me but it has the concept of what I went through. The excerpt of her book and her journaling still have me crying. The deepest emotions are brought out and she has so much heart and forgiveness to give. This book will be out soon. You will see an alert on Instagram and Facebook. Look out for it. There is a trigger warning and there are some graphic descriptions of violence. They are just part of what Amelia goes through.
Another book soon to come out is That Summer in August. This story takes place in the 1940's. It takes the reader through the happy and sad times of falling in love and will that love stand the test of time when sickness befalls this couple. Growing old together is always the goal of a couple who fall for each other. This story tells the tale of young love and growing old through it all. There are some emotional letters in this book and heartbreak. Soon to came on Amazon and my website.
I just want to thank you for reading this blog. I know soon many of you will get to know me and I love writing out my feelings to you all. There is so much more to come soon and I am looking forward to writing more books. If my website was looking a little sparce it's because I was modifying it. I have now added eBooks for sale and a cart so you can get them from me if you don't like Amazon or don't shop there. I am also working on having my books for sale in hardback and paperback on my website. Thank you for you understanding. http://romancebyannette.com This website was designed by Wix and myself and it is beautifully done. I am expanding it with more pages soon. Go on Google and check me out and follow me on Instagram and Facebook. I don't do X. It's not my thing. I do have a TikTok account but it never does well for advertising books. I do love to video my cats. I am also on Goodreads.
Let me be one of your favorite authors! I think you will like to add me to your collection of books if this is the kind of stories you like. See where they will take you and I hope you love them as much as my fans do. Take Care! Annette Marie Stephenson
